Chile striker Marcelo Salas says he is baffled after sustaining yet another thigh strain.

Salas limped out of River Plate's 3-0 Argentine league win at home to Olimpo after only two minutes on Sunday in only his second match since returning to action following a thigh problem.

The former Juventus and Lazio striker, who has returned for a second stint at the Argentine club where he made his name, had taken his time over his comeback to avoid aggravating the injury. Ticketmaster

He had been sidelined for one month and also missed Chile's opening two qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup. "The truth is that I can't find an explanation," Salas told reporters on Monday. Ticketmaster

"We did everything properly and I felt the trouble in the same place as the last time. It's all very strange and I hope it's nothing serious."

To add to his frustration, he was made captain on Sunday for the first time by coach Manuel Pellegrini.
